Bell schedules aren’t one-size-fits-all—neither are conference breaks

Configure Conference Breaks the Way Your Building Actually Runs

Bell schedules are not uniform. A middle school that runs on a rotating block doesn't share the same natural break points as an elementary school with a single lunch period. Forcing every conference into a break structure designed for a generic schedule means someone is always setting up tables during a teacher's prep time or scheduling a break that cuts through a popular booking window.

Staggered and custom break configuration

PTC Wizard now supports staggered break configurations that match how your building actually runs. Administrators can define multiple break windows at different times—one for the first-period lunch wave, another for second period, a third for a scheduled department meeting—and the booking interface respects each window for the teachers it applies to.

Teachers whose breaks differ from the school-wide default can have individual break settings applied by an administrator, without affecting the broader conference schedule. This is particularly useful for middle and high schools where lunch periods are staggered by grade or house.

Combine this with per-teacher booking policies for full control over how each teacher's conference schedule is structured. Your PTC Wizard representative can walk you through the configuration for your school's specific schedule pattern.
